Wordpress is the most popular CMS on the internet, and today I wanted to show you how to Install Wordpress on NodeHost in a few steps and some info you will need along the way.

Launch a "container"

The first and big step is to launch a new container on NodeHost.

When you click on Create Container you will get a screen asking fo the type, just pick the default "PHP Running On NGINX/APACHE" (at the time of writing there is only one option). Then pick a location and a size for your site, the size and resources of your site can be changed later, no need to worry, pick the normal "$0.06 / 24hr" option as a default if you want. You should now see this, click create container, it will take a few seconds.

Setup your domain

Now just open your new container and go to the domains section in the side menu.

You will see 2 options, one is to set the domain you already own, if you don't own one you will need to buy one from a provider like Dynadot. Unless this is a testing site always set the domain you will be using and don't use the free myws.ca domain option as your first domain on the container (it cant be changed after).

The NodeHost Storage Platform is a new system for hosting and serving files on any site. Files are uploaded and encoded into a database storage system so are not saved as files on disk to keep access to the files as fast as it can be.

The platform is made for site resource sharing. Designed for developers sharing JS or CSS files and other resources with many sites they manage.

Importing a site (Wordpress) from a CPANEL user export

This will have a lot of steps but are fairly simple. This guide will also include images along the way to help you out.

Launch a site on NodeHost and upload files

First step is to launch a new site on the NodeHost panel and set your domain. Now just get your SFTP info, you will find it under SFTP in the sidebar, this is how you connect to the site for uploading your files.

Use that info to upload your site files, you will find them in the unzipped folder from CPANEL under homedir and then in that folder your site contents will be under public_html OR a folder with your domain name on it.

Upload the files to your /web/example.com/public_html folder on NodeHost using your local FTP client like FileZilla (PC/Mac) or Transmit/Cyberduck (Mac). Before you upload or after remember to delete our default index.html file we created when you launched the site.

Setup the database

On the panel setup a new database, and use that info to connect to our Database Editor. When you login visit the Import section.

You will find your website database backup in the zip contents under mysql. If the names are for example numbered you can find the correct one by opening your wp-config.php file in your site. it will contain the name of the database you want to restore.

Getting started with the API

NodeHost is a large scale hosting provider, and we have an open no limit API that any developer with an API key can use, you can provide the API key in the URL variable api_key or as an Authorization header.

We split requests into GET and POST requests, but unless required for a resource to be uploaded all POST requests can be made as a standard GET request.

This is an example of a request without the API key getting sent in the URL variable api_key or as an Authorization header. All failed requests follow the same template of error, error_code, and error_message.

Example error codes include the following:

400 - bad request 401 - not authorized 404 - content cant be found 409 - conflict 406 - not allowed, missing content 500 - server side processing error
